BASKING RIDGE FIRE COMPANY # 1
& FIRST AID SQUAD
AT 2007 CHARTER DAY EVENT

Bernards Township's 13th Annual Charter Day was celebrated in downtown Basking Ridge on Saturday, May 19, 2007. It was the gala day that residents have come to expect, complete with vendors, displays, a fife and drum corps and the town crier. Morning clouds and a little afternoon drizzle did little to diminish the excitement.

The Basking Ridge Fire Company Number 1 was proud to be part of the celebration, showing off a fire engine, a rescue truck and two ambulances. At our booth, we painted children's faces and took free blood pressure readings for adults. More importantly, we passed out brochures about fire and health safety, answered questions about those topics, and spoke to several residents who were interested in volunteering either as firefighters or as EMTs. Several other residents dropped by the booth to thank the company for helping them during their hour of need.

All of Basking Ridge's firefighters and EMTs are part-time volunteers from our community. If you are interested in joining them, visit the firehouse at 30 Washington Street (off of West Oak) any Monday evening from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Click here for driving directions.

This Month
Wednesday, April 18, 2007, was a quiet day in Basking Ridge until a local woman started feeling chest pains in the mid-morning.  At that point, the flood gates opened, and fire and EMS crews were hectic for the next twelve hours.  Click here to read about how your volunteers responded to a house fire, a brush fire, several EMS calls, and a tragic automobile accident.
In the public image, a fire company pours water on fires and a first aid squad helps sick people.  Click here to learn about what goes on behind the scenes, such as keeping people and equipment in tip-top shape, serving the community, and keeping the organization running.

With grilling season upon us, its time to dig into the cookbook and find out how Texas Firefighters heat up their BBQ Sauce.

Who We Are

The Basking Ridge Fire Company and First Aid Squad is a 100% Volunteer organization. The majority of our funding comes from donations made by the residents and businesses of Bernards Township. These dollars are used for purchasing new equipment, equipment maintenance and the upkeep of our building and physical plant. All donations are welcome and tax deductible to the full extent of the law (please consult your tax advisor regarding your individual deductibility status).

Come by and meet us. We’re at the firehouse on Washington Avenue EVERY Monday night from 7:00-9:00. This is designated as our “work night”. Its an opportunity for all members to help out in the weekly maintenance of equipment and our building. Its also a great way to meet the members and see what Fire Fighting and First Aid are all about. Need more information about joining our team? Write us at membership@brfco.com.
